I became a teacher to be involved in the future of America. Teachers are the core of everyone’s childhood who help mold individuals into lifelong learners. We help shape the future of America by teaching lifelong skills, social skills, collaboration, community connections, and engaging lessons. We are welcoming to all learners and teach the most important thing, acceptance of differences. Everyone matters, inclusion matters.

My most memorable teaching experience is watching the excitement of learning on two students face, one when he completed his Pop Bottle character after a research project and one after he grew over 42 points on a math diagnostic. The excitement that brought both boys tears of joy, brings me tears of joy knowing I was part of their learning. The student who grew 42 points on his test dad told me at parent teacher conferences “it’s teachers like you who kids will remember, you matter to them.”

If I were to win $25,000 I would take my family on a much deserved family vacation. I am currently teaching 4th grade and taking master classes to become a special education teacher. (They deserve to have a mom dedicated to them for a week!) I would also make a donate to the Sotos Syndrome organization as it’s the rare condition my 10 year old daughter was born with. And lastly, I would put some towards my masters at Kansas State University. Go Cats!
