Teaching music was my aspiration since I started playing Clarinet in 4th grade. I went to College for music but it just wasn't the right time ,so I dropped out. Years later, when I had children join the band the 5th grade, I volunteered. I remembered how much I loved it. I went back to school I count my blessing every day that " Get" to do this.Now I am a full time teacher in an Inner city school(Mary E. Fogarty Elementary in Providence ,R.I.)
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI have so many. The one that comes to mind is he little girl from Afghanistan that spoke no English but when she came to music I would smile at her and she would smile back. You could tell that she was feeling comfortable and joined in with the activity. I know I have made an impact with the students here,all day they tell me they love me. I am the reason some of them come to school!
What would you do with the $25,000?Buy instrument for my students and pay off my house!!
