I became a teacher after helping out at a summer camp, which really sparked my passion for being a positive role model. I want my students to feel excited about learning and have fun while doing it. Making real connections is so important because without those, students just won’t care about learning. I aim to create a place where they feel cared for, loved, and encouraged, knowing their growth matters more than just their grades.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

When a student nominates me as an honored guest at their graduation or a sporting event. The fact that they remember me years after leaving my class, despite all the amazing teachers they’ve had since, means everything to me. It reminds me that I’m making a real difference in their lives, and that’s what keeps me motivated and makes this job so rewarding.

What would you do with the $25,000?

As a father of four, I would invest the $25,000 in my family. This would allow me to spend more quality time with my kids, reducing the stress that comes with juggling multiple jobs. With the extra time, I could attend student events like sports, theater, and art programs, supporting my students and connecting with them outside of the classroom. It would help create a better balance in my life and provide my family with more opportunities for the future.
