Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because, growing up, I saw so many of my peers trapped in the cycle of generational poverty. I want to inspire future generations to see that their current situation is not their forever situation. Through education, they have the power to break barriers, rewrite their stories, and change the world. My goal is to be more than just a teacher—I want to be a source of encouragement, showing them that knowledge is the key to endless possibilities.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

A memorable teaching moment was when a student who couldn’t read gained confidence and began reading after just a month and a half in my classroom. Seeing their excitement and pride reminded me why I became a teacher—to help students realize their potential and break through barriers. This moment reaffirmed my belief that with patience, support, and perseverance, every child can succeed. Witnessing that growth was an incredible and rewarding experience.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won $25,000, I would further my education to become a better teacher and continue inspiring future generations to break barriers and end generational poverty. Investing in my growth means providing my students with the best support, resources, and opportunities to succeed. Education is the key to change, and I want to ensure I have the knowledge and skills to empower my students to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
