Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I felt a calling to guide and inspire others. It comes from passion for learning, the impact my history teacher had on me, and a natural inclination to help others grow. Teaching offered a way for me to make a meaningful difference. l saw teaching as a way to nurture curiosity, shape young minds, and contribute to building a better future. Over time, teaching has also turned into a fulfilling challenge that brought purpose to your own life.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

During a water cycle experiment, I had students create mini cycles in plastic bags. One quiet student, usually disengaged, suddenly ran to me, eyes wide, saying, "It’s working! I can see the clouds!" Her excitement spread, and soon the whole class was discussing how the experiment connected to real-world weather. That moment reminded me how hands-on learning sparks curiosity and how even small experiments can make science come alive, fostering connections and joy in discovery.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won $25,000 for being America's Favorite Teacher, I'd first invest in my school’s needs—purchasing supplies, updating classroom resources, and funding after-school programs for students. I'd also contribute to a teacher fund for those who face financial challenges. For my family, I’d use some to ease financial burdens and support education. The rest would go towards personal growth—taking professional development courses, creating more engaging lessons, and improving my own well-being.
