The best thing we can do with our days is to invest in those coming up behind us. Although business careers tend to be more lucrative, investing in young people is more rewarding. It is the greatest purpose.Teaching Physics is a great platform to inspire- mentor and encourage inquiry! I love highlighting beauty and the science of interactions! I love all of it- the challenge of temperaments and circumstances with each student- we get to help them navigate obstacles to overcome! It’s a privilege
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI remember teaching freshman physical science on buoyant forces, and Archimedes principle. The lesson plan coincided with my annual review, which included an observation from the asst. superintendent. The lesson was loaded with water in the classroom and splashing (jumping from the desk into a kiddie pool). … the look on the kids faces, and on my boss, as the lesson happened was absolutely fantastic. While I don’t remember the test scores, I do remember lots of smiles and great discussion.
What would you do with the $25,000?Probably road-trip to Fermi Lab outside of Chicago; and likely take a few more trips to the historic Mecca’s of physics. The best thing would be taking a class of AP 2 Physics students for the ride! Science Mecca with room 310 fam
