Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I had amazing elementary school teachers that changed my life and I wanted to do the same for other children. Those teachers made me love school and I want every child to love school just as much as I do. School is sometimes the only safe haven for some children so I work everyday to make sure my classroom is positive, inclusive and safe for all students. Learning is so important for the future generations and I am grateful to be apart of it.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is working at a Title 1 school and seeing how much love these kids can give even when they are having a bad day. A lot of my kids basic needs are not met, so when they come in with a smile it inspires me to be a kind human and have new perspectives on life. Kids truly are resilient.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With this money I would have the opportunities to enhance my classroom with new supplies, books and other learning materials. This would also help me pursue professional development opportunities to ensure my students are getting the education they need and deserve! I would be using this money to not only better myself but to better everyone involved in the classroom!
