Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I love helping others. As a teacher, not only can you help students academically, but you can help them learn so many things that will help them be successful in life. I love helping my students build confidence. I teach them that it’s ok to make mistakes, and the importance of always trying. I teach them how to effectively communicate to help them resolve conflict. I teach them what it means to be a good friend. The teachable moments in my classroom are invaluable.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was my first year of teaching. It was the year of COVID and we had to all social distance. Despite these challenges and restrictions, I made my classroom community a safe space for my students. They opened up and felt comfortable to share struggles that they were going through in school and outside of school. I was able to be a safe listening ear for them to help them navigate these life difficulties. This truly made me feel that this is my purpose in life.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000 I would help put a deposit down on a house for myself. Buying a home as a single person on a teachers salary is challenging, so with this it could help me reach my goal!😊
