With a degree in communications and theater, I applied for a job at a preschool, thinking they probably wouldn’t hire me without any experience and a background in theater. When asked how my background could help me in the classroom I began to juggle the stress balls I found and said “I can make learning fun”. I was hired on the spot. From that moment on my passion for making learning fun only grew. Now, 20 years later, I create individualized performances to teach each one of my students.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOnce I brought dinosaur counters to my pre-k class. I had a student who still wasn’t speaking and his parents were very worried. This student was using the counters when someone said “look it’s all raptors” and my non-verbal student said “no thas a Pterodactyl I have all pterodactyl.” He was right and shocked us all.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would tithe 10% to my church. Split the rest between college loans and a down payment for my first house.
