Every time I see a special education student being included by their general education peers remind me of why I do what I do. All means ALL!

Tell us why you became a teacher

I started in the classroom as a special education paraprofessional in 2016 and fell in love with the kids and the job. I wanted to do more so I got my alternative teaching certificate. I have been teaching since 2019 and I feel I’ve found my calling.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching moment would have to be any time my former students see me after moving up to middle or high school and still get so excited. The joy in their faces when they get to share what they’re doing now means so much to me. We were a big part of each other’s lives from kinder-5th grade and I love that they remember our time together.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000, I would be able to provide so many accommodations to the three Foundational Learning classrooms at my school. We would be able to give manipulatives & alternative seating arrangements for our students who need those items. I would also help make our bathroom more wheelchair friendly with a lift that can hold adult sized students. And I would add money to our Community Based Instruction fund so we can continue teaching our students about different aspects of our community.
