I became a teacher to make a difference in students’ lives. Education is more than just lessons and tests—it’s about inspiring confidence, fostering growth, and showing students they are capable of more than they realize. I wanted to be the teacher who sees students as individuals, not just scores, and helps them believe in themselves. Every day, I strive to create a classroom where students feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed beyond what they thought possible.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was when a former student wrote about me in her college essay, saying I didn’t see her as just a score but as an individual. She shared that my support and belief in her made a lasting impact, and if she became a teacher, she’d want to be just like me. Knowing that I helped shape not just her academic success but also her outlook on education and personal growth reminds me why I teach—because students are more than numbers; they are people.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded $25,000, I would use it to pay off some debt, allowing me to focus even more on my students and their success. I would also give back to my students by investing in classroom resources, books, and learning materials that enhance their education. Additionally, I’d look for ways to support students in need, whether through supplies, mentorship opportunities, or experiences that inspire them to reach their full potential.
