Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to be part of the change I wanted to see in the world. Teachers have the most important profession because we get to help create the next generation of thinkers, explorers, and problem solvers. Being a part of that is extremely rewarding.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

During my early years as a teacher, I had a tough class. They had numerous challenges but throughout the year, we learned and grew together. They learned and practiced important social-emotional skills, they learned what it meant to be a school family, and because of that, they were dedicated to their work and studies and grew tremendously that year. Not just in their school work, but in all areas. It was beautiful. I still have some of those students (who are grown-ups now) reach out to me.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would take my family on a fabulous vacation. I would then take the remaining money and pay down my student loans. I would also save the rest for education funds for my two children.
