Connect Tell us why you became a teacher

All my life children young and old have always gravitated to me. I've always felt teaching doesn't come from just one person but we are all teachers whether we want to be or not. Teaching is a calling that I'm learning still that I can't run from. I daily think about those who taught me through life and I wish I could thank them for their guidance. I'm paying it forward by teaching and praying I'm making a difference in at least one students life.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One year I had a young lady who was determined to get out of the low housing community she lived in and be the first person in her family to go to college. This young lady wanted to go to an HBCU out of state. I took a group of them to do a campus visit. I helped this young lady write a letter to accept her on a probation period as she did not meet the criteria. This young lady graduated from that school with a degree in broadcasting. And has gone to achieve her Masters degree.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25, 000, I would first pay off my medical bills. This year has been a tough year health wise and it has landed me in the hospital several times. Then I would put a down payment on a car. When the matriarch of our family passed, I sold my car to take over hers. For health reasons it's time for me to say See ya later". Lastly, I would like to "Move that bus" on my classroom and get items off my Amazon and TPT wish list.
