Megan Buehler

The best part of teaching is the relationships that I form with students. I make it a priority to ensure they know how much they are valued!

Tell us why you became a teacher

My mom was a teacher, so I had the privilege of seeing the positive impact she made on her students' lives. I had a desire to help students see the potential within themselves and to advocate for what they need educationally. Every child is an individual who needs something unique, and I love solving the puzzle of figuring out each student's learning preferences. I feel honored to witness each student grow at his or her own pace and begin to set goals for themselves.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

It is so hard to choose, but one that is the most memorable includes a student I taught for three years who has Autism. When he was in 2nd grade, his mom and I wanted to teach him about what Autism is and how it makes him unique and special. We created a brochure for the students in his class, and he gave a presentation about what Autism is and how it makes him the extraordinary human he is. The students were able to ask questions and take a copy of his brochure!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would save most of it for my three children's future (college, etc.). I would also love to donate some to our local school district to ensure all student lunch account balances are paid.
