I’ve known from a young age that I wanted to be both a mom and a teacher. Growing up school tended to be my safe haven and there are a few teachers that I remember to this day solely because of the love and support they provided me with when I truly needed it most. A quote that I have posted in my classroom to remind me of why I do what I do is “You have become someone that would have protected you as a child and that it’s one of the most powerful things you could’ve done”.

I have worked at my current daycare center for going on 6 years now. I used to float around the entire center covering wherever I was needed & spent a lot of time in the infant/toddler wing. I am now a lead preschool teacher & last summer the kids that I helped take care of as babies when I first started at the center graduated preschool. It was such a bittersweet & rewarding realization that they were the first group of kids I had helped raise, teach & love from infants to kindergarteners.

I have already completed half of my inner child’s dream by becoming a teacher and now the next step is becoming a mom. Growing up I never really had a stable living arrangement due to bouts of homelessness and moving a lot. My goal has always been to have a house of my own before having children especially now that I have knowledge of the importance of stability and the impact it has on our development. $25,000 would be an incredible blessing and a huge first step towards being a homeowner.
