As a first grader I fell in love with learning and wanted to teach. 33 years in the classroom, I still love to learn with my young students.

I adored my first and second grade teachers and had a heartfelt desire to be just like them. I played school all the time imagining my future career. I’ve always had a love for young children; their enthusiasm to learn, to explore and experience the world around them. I went to college focused on teaching and my work study was at the child center on campus. I taught in public education for 30 years, enjoyed my young grandchildren in retirement. I’ve been teaching in private school for 3 years.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceAs a public school teacher I looped with a group of students from 1st - 3rd grade. This was an amazing educational experience for myself and my students. We accumulated 3 years of writing portfolios, math journals, and hit the ground running at the start of each year knowing where we had left off. My students parents agreed to their child staying in my class. I am still in touch with many of these students through social media experiencing their marriages, children’s births and career paths.
What would you do with the $25,000?I am teaching at a private school that has educational needs so a donation is at the top of my list. I enjoy gardening and want to expand my garden at home. My son is in the Air Force stationed in Germany, my husband and I would plan a trip to spend time with him.
