Tell us why you became a teacher

I initially became a teacher to advocate for students in Special Education. Personally as I have had children with learning disabilities it encouraged me to work with special needs students. However, my journey brought me to become a well rounded teacher in education as I transitioned into teaching general education. To where I could continue advocating for students in need not just in the classroom but also as a coach.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is seeing the progress being made with my students throughout the year. It is extremely rewarding to have a student feel successful in their educational journey. To have a student feel valued/supported is and will always be the ultimate goal in my classroom.

What would you do with the $25,000?

First and foremost I would like give back to my community by providing an after school sports program for low income students. It is imperative that all students have access to have fun and learn interpersonal skills. Which is allowing for successful opportunities and the confidence necessary to thrive in the future.
