I love making connections with students that lead them to self awareness of their gifts and talents, leading them to success every day!

At a very young age, I told my mom that I wanted to become a teacher, live in the United States, and have a house with a garage. As I grew up and attempted to learn English, I knew that teaching was my path. In 5th grade I had a wonderful teacher that solidified my desire to teach. I wanted children like me, to see a teacher that looked like them. I teach because I want to help facilitate learning while strengthening our youths gifts and talents.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceTeaching a 2nd/3rd grade-bilingual, full inclusion class. This was the most memorable because I was able to loop with my students. This strengthened my bond with them and their family. It created the kind of school to home connection that I found was needed in order to receive the highest level of learning from each student. During those two years I was able to facilitate hands on learning through field trips, gardening, inquiry based projects, and SO much more! Parent participation was awesome!
What would you do with the $25,000?I would spend a portion of this money to build up the Spanish library section at my current school. We have a Dual Language program but only have a 2 bookshelf section of Spanish books. I would also add books written in other languages. The rest of the money I would use to pay for some college courses. I would like to get a doctorate in ethnic studies.
