Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I want to inspire the future explorers, astronauts, engineers, technicians, and planetary defenders of our only home. It is essential to inspire them today to get them on their future path. I remember my teachers and I especially remember going on field trips to the landfill, the recycling center, Sea Turtle Inc., and also doing activities outside. Those experiences have stuck with me for many years, they have inspired me, and made me the teacher I am today!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was connecting NASA to our learning. I connect my students on Zoom with the Lead Recovery Engineer of the NASA Orion capsule. My students were so excited to meet and ask questions about her career. After that we had a lesson about forces and worked on an "Eggstronaut" activity. The students were given materials to create a capsule to safely land the "Eggstronaut" on the ground as it was dropped from 7 ft. Afterwards, they mentioned they nted to be engineers!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would go to Florida to see a rocket launch as it has been a dream of mine. I especially want to see the SpaceX Falcon 9 boosters return and land! And of course Disney World!
