I became a teacher to fulfill my life purpose. Everyone in this world has a purpose and teaching is mine. I have a strong desire to inspire young people to be the best versions of themselves. I want them to understand that they too can make a difference in this world.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceAfter 30 years of teaching and coaching, I realize that there are so many memorable experiences that are all important in their own way. But the most memorable is when I was working in a classroom of middle school students with physical limitations, and I was able to teach several of them how to tie their shoes. It might seem small, but that sense of independence meant everything to that student and their parents. Also teaching students to ask for help is one of the most valuable skills I teach.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I were to win, I would use that money to continue my education in mental health. There is such a great need in the general population of students and their families that I work with.
