Forming bonds to help young people is how I saw myself contributing to society. I wanted to make memories for people. I wanted to make students have a voice. Engagement in science is what turns the future adults into critical thinkers and problem solvers.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceNear Thanksgiving, I had my freshmen write a message to anyone in the school describing everything they loved about that person. I saw students grab multiple cards to write for more than one person. A bunch of the cards were written back to me. One said, "I might not have a father at home, but every time I walk into this room, I feel like I have one." That hit hard coming from a teenager.
What would you do with the $25,000?Some of it would start a booster for STEM Club and Science National Honor Society. Some of it would be used for our home finances. Some of it would be used to enhance our classroom.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like America's Favorite Teacher, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
