Kira Chuprov

I love teaching because of the look of joy on a child's face once they learn a new skill/topic. That look of accomplishment is priceless!

Tell us why you became a teacher

Since high school I've always loved working with children. I also believe it's important to make a good impact in the world. Teaching gives me the opportunity to do both. It's a bonus that I get to build memorable relationships with these beautiful, young souls.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was when I was a teacher-in-training teaching swimming lessons. My students were learning their back float for an entire week. They worked so hard! On the final day of the lesson, the students began to float on their own. I usually support them, but then I let go and let them try it alone. After I told them they were floating on their own, their faces lit up! They were so excited! I will never forget this moment. The one that gave me the fire to teach.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use part of the money to lower student tuition for struggling families. Our school is funded solely by donations and student tuition, so I would also use the money to fund field trips for my middle and high schoolers. My class could also benefit from new class books and curriculum to further their wholesome education.
