Kimberly Miller

They say to work at a job you love and you’ll never “work” a day in your life! I love my students and I love what I do every single day!

Tell us why you became a teacher

My passion for science, learning and working with kids brought me to teaching. I love having my students soak it all up, get excited about activities and the science labs we do, and even tell their friends in the next period classes what we are doing that day. Their reactions and excitement are contagious, even after 29 years! I was born to be a middle school science teacher!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Well? How about the time we were in the middle of mini physics labs and one of my 6th graders, too excited about the day, did not tell me he was feeling sick. Suddenly, he vomited all over the supplies we were using! Another fun memory, was the germ lab I created from scratch! Students walked around the school to find the perfect place to “swab” for germs and were SO excited to get them into the Petri dishes and grow some nasty bacteria!

What would you do with the $25,000?

Pay off debt! Finish some MUCH NEEDED upgrades in my house, and help my oldest son with college expenses! I would love the opportunity to have some “extra” for a change. I teach in an impoverished district with so many needy students. I would love to do something for them like cater a breakfast and buy them all brand new school supplies!
