I am a special education teacher and I love what I do. Everyday I get to celebrate the “aha” moments in the most unique ways.

I have wanted to be a teacher as long as I can remember. I love being part of, and witnessing, someone's journey, successes, stumbles, and chances to overcome. I started as a MS teacher and soon realized I wanted to be a special education teacher. The relationships developed with the student and family is so inspiring. I like each day being a new challenge and chance to celebrate.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceLast year I started late due to maternity leave. When I came back I had ground to cover to connect with my caseload. They were so welcoming to me and we developed a beautiful family. The students came in each day ready to put in 110% and grew academically, socially, and emotionally in ways I could never have imagined. As a reward, I personalized water bottles for them and got them a treat. We had the best time talking about what they have accomplished and it showed the family we made.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would pay off student debt as I am in grad school for my MBA and admin license, put some away for my own children's education, go on a family vacation (as I have been very preoccupied with grad school and work), and spend the rest on SEL needs in my classroom. The need for SEL supports are growing and growing. We need more to help students regulate and cope in the classroom to be successful.
