My mom was a teacher. I grew up excited for that one day a year that it was “take your kid to work day”. I’ve always had a special gift of building strong relationships with kids and I had some amazing teachers (and mom) who inspired me to follow in their footsteps.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceIn 2020 I was asked to move from teaching first grade to PE because my boss thought that I’d be able to make an even bigger impact on the scholars at our school that way. I taught the entire first year online out of my small space in my bedroom. I learned so much about both the scholars and myself during that time.
What would you do with the $25,000?I’d use some of the money towards my book of the month program that I run for the whole school, use some to pay off bills, take care of some neglected house projects, save some for emergency house projects, and take my son on a nice vacation.
