Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I love people. I love people of all ages and I love to be a part of their growth process. When you teach, you are not only apart of these children's lives for a school year, but for a lifetime. I knew I'd get to teach them for 180 days and then watch them continue to grow with someone else. Being a teacher is the perfect profession- for me!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Years ago, I had a little girl who struggled. She struggled in most academic areas, gross and fine motor skills, and speech. I put a lot of time and effort into her. I built a relationship with her, monitored her growth, modified her work, developed interventions that I thought would help her and then one day, it seemed to come together. She began to decode and blend words amongst other skills. This made US feel like $25,000.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would catch up on my bills, pay payments of principle on my home, go on a huge grocery shopping spree, purchase my children rain boots, get a passport, and put the rest in my savings account.
