Tell us why you became a teacher

I hope to inspire students to want to understand the world around them and enjoy learning. It's fulfilling to guide someone through the learning process and see the success they have when given the right tools. My position as an educator allows me to offer different avenues to the same destination--or different destinations altogether. Every child is unique, and I have the opportunity to spark curiosity with each person in a different way every day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Any time a student has told me their plans for the future excites me. In this world of constant uncertainty, it's really special to hear someone say that I helped guide them toward their future career. They tell me with confidence that "I'm going to college/military/training for --, and you helped me get there." I was merely a stepping stone, and I'm thankful to have guided them in a positive direction.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would immediately donate $3,000 to my Debate team and Newspaper staff. The rest would go into savings to grow over time. Once I have my own children, I would transfer it to a 529 or some other college or career savings so their future is secure.
