Tell us why you became a teacher

To be the teacher/person I needed but didn’t have at that age. To make connections and mentor kids. To share the knowledge I’ve gained through my life experiences- you’re smarter than you think, you’re braver than you seem, you’re stronger than you feel & You can do hard things! I repeat this with my students daily!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

After nine years of teaching and private education, I made the move to public. I wasn’t sure it was the right thing to do but the pay was better and the job was closer to home. I had built so many meaningful relationships at the prek—8 school I was at- so it was a huge leap of faith. Within the first three weeks of teaching the dimensions of wellness, one of my brand new students named me in an assignment and said that I make her feel like she means something. Huge connection. Short span of time

What would you do with the $25,000?

I’m crossing my fingers, toes and using positive affirmations, hoping to acquire a kidney from a living donor. This would be my second kidney transplant and a third chance at life. I truly believe my purpose is working with kids and I’m not done yet! I would use the money towards my medical bills.
