Tell us why you became a teacher

I've known that I wanted to become a teacher since I was in 2nd grade. My 2nd grade teacher made such a positive impact with her way of teaching and kindness, that I saw myself just like her in the future. I love motivating and engaging my students with my teaching every day. Teaching Reading to Kindergarten through 5th grade has been the most rewarding part of my career these last 7 years, while also being a grade level homeroom teacher.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was during my time in Brick and mortar for 7 years. My most memorable moment was working with a 2nd grader, who was struggling to learn how to read. I worked with him an hour every day after school. The day it clicked and he realized he could read was like winning the lottery. I'll never forget his confidence and huge smile. From that day forward, he loved reading. He is now a grown man with a family of his own. My passion to teach Reading was revealed.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000, I would use the money to pay off some bills and pay my children's extra curricular activities fees. They are in their school's Marching Band and Color Guard. Providing for my children is first and foremost.
