Tell us why you became a teacher

Driven by a deep desire to serve my country and community, after the military, I found my calling in education. Working with children brings me peace, and I'm passionate about nurturing their growth. I believe in shaping a positive future for our community, one student at a time. There is nothing better than to see the smile on a scholar's face when they meet their goals.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

A little girl joined my 3rd grade class at the start of the year, struggling in math and reading. Discouraged by initial assessments, I reassured her that we will work hard together. Come April's state tests, she was understandably anxious. I encouraged her to trust her efforts. The results? Grade-level proficiency in both subjects! We celebrated with joyful jumps and a heartfelt "thank you" hug. This is my "why."

What would you do with the $25,000?

I strongly believe in the transformative power of higher education. With three children to send to college, I know firsthand the financial commitment involved. Winning this $25,000 would be an incredible blessing, directly supporting their future and easing the burden of tuition costs. It would be a significant step towards ensuring they have the opportunity to pursue their dreams.
