Tell us why you became a teacher

I am the oldest of seven kids and a mother to three beautiful children. I started my career in child development which prepared me for my career as a teacher. When I was 8 years old I immigrated to the United States. I was fortunate for the teachers who impacted my life as I faced the challenges of adapting to a new country. I am forever grateful for the support and care they showed. It is their actions that inspired me to do the same for other students.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences was probably the first time my students ever published a class book. It took such a long time for each student to put in their contribution. Everything from the cover to the artwork came together so beautifully, and we were all so very proud of our collective efforts.

What would you do with the $25,000?

So many things come to mind, but the first thing that I would do is give myself a proper relaxing vacation, get myself a massage, maybe finally finish the book I’m writing and actually get it published. I’d buy my classroom, a ton of new books and art supplies and sign up for some cool science programs. I would buy a comfortable chair for my classroom and possibly pay off a few bills. These are just a few ideas that come to my mind.
