Wow-I love to see “the light bulb come on” when students understand how to read/write/problem solve as we become lifelong learners together!
Thank you for supporting Heather Denham in this year's competition. Your donations and participation will benefit The Planetary Society in their mission to advance space exploration, inspire discovery, and empower the next generation of innovators.
I became a teacher because I wanted to help students love learning: seeing how learning is relevant to all-day/everyday life, learning to truly think, and respecting/ relating to other students & adults in their lives. There is power in using our mind to grow & help others!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceThis year- as GA teachers are systematically teaching listening skills, letters, & sounds- my students have been empowered & excited to read and write! My heart jumps for joy when 1 student said: “I can write now!” And another said: “I love to read…this is the BEST thing ever!”
What would you do with the $25,000?I would do numerous things! I’d invest half of it, so that it will grow for future classroom needs. I would donate some to the Tift Co. Foundation for Educational Excellence, as they provide yearly grants for numerous teachers. I would buy new books, furniture, & art supplies for my class. I’d give $50 to every teacher in my school. Finally, I would pay for some of our son’s college fees.
