Tell us why you became a teacher

First and foremost: I am a career changer. My background is in plant pathology and I was a Golf Course Superintendent for 11 years. I became a teacher honestly because I wanted more time with my family. My spouse and I collectively agreed it was time to get out. Teaching brings me joy because not only do I get to teach at their school, but I also teach Science to 4th graders! I became a teacher because kids now more than ever need a role model and someone who genuinely cares about who they are.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience comes everyday in the form of the curiosity of these individuals. It allows me to learn from them while imparting my age and experience. They definitely keep me learning and on my toes everyday.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I am currently enrolled in a Graduate Program specializing in Educational Psychology in Learning and Assessments. I am hoping to use part of the money to help with tuition. I am going to use the other half to help fund more STEM activities at our school and supplement ones we already have including YuGiOh Club NASA club, our School Garden, etc.
