Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because when I was a student, I had teachers who believed in and championed me, despite some challenges I was facing outside of school. They have inspired me in numerous ways, and I hope to inspire and support my own students in the same ways they did for me.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience, would be when the first group of students I had as 6th graders were being promoted to high school. To watch them grow from shy and reserved 6th graders, to confident and resilient 8th graders was something I will never forget. Visits from previous students who share how they are achieving their goals is so memorable, and something I am so thankful to get to share with them.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I am currently completing my Masters of Education in Teaching and Learning, so I would use some of the money to help me pay for the rest of my degree. Then, I would save some of the money for future endeavors like further schooling! Additionally, I would donate some of the money to St. Jude's Children Hospital, an organization I care deeply about.
