Tell us why you became a teacher

From the age of nine, teaching ignited a deep passion in me, inspired by my mother, an educator. Her influence showed me how teaching can transform lives and nurture a love for learning. The transformative impact of teaching drives my passion for helping students grow and succeed, empowering them to face challenges and excel in all areas of life. Through teaching, I aim to make a lasting difference in their lives, supporting them in realizing their capabilities and achieving their goals.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

In my third year as a fourth-grade teacher, I used Harry Potter to inspire a class facing significant learning challenges. When a student mentioned their mom’s disbelief in college, it motivated me to emphasize education’s power. Years later, I received a graduation invitation, proving how small efforts can lead to big changes. This experience reinforced my belief that teaching is about more than academics; it’s about instilling confidence, hope, and belief in a brighter future.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded $25,000, I would prioritize my children's college education to help them succeed and inspire their educational journey. I would also celebrate this recognition with my family, especially my parents, whose sacrifices shaped who I am today. Lastly, I would start a non-profit to fund transformative school experiences for students who lack opportunities to participate in them, helping inspire deeper learning and higher aspirations.
