Tell us why you became a teacher

My 3rd grade teacher had a huge impact on me in more ways than one. She had a way of reaching all of us, not only through academics, but also by making us all feel loved and appreciated just the way we were. My confidence level shifted for the first time that year and as I got older I knew I wanted to make sure ALL children were reminded why they were here. That their own unique light is within them and they can shine, without comparison, just by being who they are each and every day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most recent and memorable teaching experiences was when I was talking to my class about the importance of honesty. I told them if they were honest with me (even if it’s bad) that I could help them and support them in ways they didn’t even realize yet. That we could work anything out together, yet only if they are honest. Some children I had already supported. One of those children raised his hand and said, “You should listen guys, she means it. Mrs. Kreiss changed my life.” - Grade 3

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay off bills with most of it! I might use a little to get my family back to Disney since my little guy will be double digits this year. 🙏
