Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to be the positive, loving, caring teacher in children life that I feel I didn’t have growing up. Being a teacher has healed a lot of the child within me.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is when I taught my preschoolers about African American history. By the end of the month they remembered every single person we learned about and what they did for African Americans. They were all so intrigued about the different people and some were very influenced by them. Many parents will tell me how their child came home talking about what they learned. That also really made it very memorable, knowing they are learning and happy to tell their parents.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I have always wanted to make my own children books and songs. I would also use it to give to many childcare centers that need the extra resources. Shaping little minds starts as soon as they enter the world and for the parents that have to put their children in childcare I want to make sure the childcare they go to, the teachers have wonderful resources to teach the children.

Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like America's Favorite Teacher, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
