Tell us why you became a teacher

It took a village of educators to help provide guidance for me to get into college and finish with my degrees. I believe that teaching will help me return the favor and continue that cycle of helping students reach their potential and goals. Seeing former students update me on their lives and what they are doing is a reminder that I'm making a difference in their life.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experience, was when I took my AVID class to CSU Stanislaus (my alma mater). My students were able to tour the campus and I shared stories of my college life at Stanislaus State. I was able to use my connections to get them a personal tour of the dorms and athletic facilities. One student was even so impressed that they ended going there after high school. Truly was a highlight of my career.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would l Iove to use the money to spoil myself or my family, however I have to be honest and I'd need to spend it wisely. So my plans are to use the money to pay off my college loans. In today's climate, I can't guarantee that my loans will be forgiven in a few years and have 25k is just enough to completely pay off my loans. The leftover money will be used to increase my daughters' college funds.
