I love teaching because it allows me to instill, inspire, and bring hope to students who are starting their educational journeys.

I became a teacher because, as a child I didn’t have the safest or calmest upbringing. But my teacher made me feel loved, smart, and understood which inspired me to create the same supportive environment for others. I started to appreciate learning through the support of my teachers. That’s when I took off in my studies. I became a teacher to ensure every child feels empowered to learn and reach their goals and become powerful problem solvers, knowing that nothing can hold them back.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne memorable experience was during my internship when I taught a sixth-grade world cultures class about the bubonic plague. I used station activities to explore how it changed society and the perspectives on science and health. The students were so engaged and said it was the most fun they had learning about something gross. Everyone was focused. They told me my elementary students would love me and that they were going to miss me and my lessons. This was 6 years ago!
What would you do with the $25,000?I’d put a portion towards paying off my student loans, save some for the future, and use part of it to support charities I believe in. I’d also put it towards buying a small house of my own. And, since my heart is a traveler, I’d definitely set aside some to explore the world during my vacation time.
