Tell us why you became a teacher

I teach because I love sharing knowledge across disciplines—science, math, English, psychology, statistics, and social justice. With a PhD in biomedical sciences, I’ve taught everything from research methods to K-12 subjects. I'm not a gatekeeper of knowledge; I believe everyone should have access to it. Knowledge truly is power—it helps people understand the world, challenge ignorance, and think critically to make informed decisions.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching moments was helping a struggling student realize they weren’t 'bad at math'—they just needed a different approach. Seeing their confidence grow as they solved problems on their own was incredible. Whether teaching science, stats, or social justice, I love those 'aha' moments when students realize they can learn anything. Breaking down barriers to knowledge is why I teach

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I’d put a solid down payment on a home, creating stability for myself. I’d save some for the future, ensuring financial security. The rest, I’d invest in supporting my students—whether through better resources, tutoring, or opportunities that expand their learning. Education has the power to change lives, and I want to make knowledge more accessible to those who need it most.
