Tell us why you became a teacher

I fell into teaching after graduate school, and after a day, I could not imagine myself happier doing anything else. Helping kids feel the safety and warmth I felt in school growing up is paramount.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Teaching 5th graders about the Flint Water Crisis, and watching them get impassioned, teaching 3rd graders about the circulatory system by simulating parts of the heart and being blood cells.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Pay off my family’s loans, and then take my son to meet his extended family and where his parents came from, Brazil and Scotland.
