Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because school was challenging for me, and I wanted to invest in children’s lives. I was driven to explore the most effective ways to encourage learning and apply those strategies to help children excel. I became a teacher because I remembered a teacher that invested in me and I wanted to invest in others.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

It’s hard to pin point one memorable experience. There are new experiences for me everyday. I teach special education and it is a true joy each day to see growth and connection with a child. The most rememberable experience are those in which something seems so difficult for a child. However, through direct, strategic teaching, modeling, reinforcing and communication and collaboration with families, a child can and will come and achieve high expectations and goals.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were to be granted $25,000. I would first pay off a little debt. I would then invest in the needs of my classroom and my school to further social emotional skills learning as well as positive behavior reinforcement education.
