Tell us why you became a teacher

I have always known I wanted to be a teacher. I am working towards a degree in curriculum planning as well, my hope is to help and support as many children as I cross paths with. If I can help my students see all the wonderful things they hold within themselves then I have met my purpose each day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was an overnight camp out I planned and coordinated with my students and their parents. We roasted marshmallows, took and archery lesson, and practiced survival skills like water filtration, starting a fire, and making a shelter! We also shared many laughs… the night culminated in stories that I helped my learners write and publish that they debuted around the campfire to their parents and friends. We did sunrise yoga and had a delicious breakfast.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I love to make my lessons engaging and memorable. Smiling and laughing with my learners has been the most successful way I have experienced in helping them grasp big topics. That money would help me to continue to dress up as characters to tell stories, decorate my classroom for holidays, help my learners feel special with handmade gifts, and help me finish my doctorate to improve my skill set as an educator.
