Tell us why you became a teacher

Education found me unexpectedly. I enrolled in a Multicultural Education course to save it from being cut, but it changed everything. The class inspired me with its focus on equity and student empowerment, sparking my passion for teaching and advocacy. It led me to pursue education as my calling.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was witnessing my students’ growth from the start to the end of the semester. Many began quiet and reserved, but by the end, they were confidently sharing passionate perspectives on global issues. Seeing their transformation and engagement was incredibly rewarding.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were fortunate enough to receive $25,000, I’d approach it with purpose. First, I’d set aside a portion as I’m not sure if I’ll be back teaching this fall due to budget cuts. At the same time, I’d want to pay it forward by investing in my community and students. Whether it’s funding classroom projects, supporting my local La Mission community, and creating opportunities for young minds to thrive. A balance of planning and giving back.
