Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to help students in a way that I needed when I was in school. I come from a Spanish speaking house hold and it was always tough for me to make connections with teacher and my parents. My parents left it up to me to let them know important things that the teacher would ask for or need because of the language barrier. I felt like an adult more than a kid and now I want to be that teacher that can connect with all students and parents.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is when I talked to a student about how to help them and they agreed to work after school while they waiting on their bus to be called. She achieved a 4 on her math assessment and it was the happiest I have ever seen her. This was the best reward I could have ever wanted. Seeing her confidence grow shows me exactly why I chose to become a teacher.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With the 25,000 I would pay off some of my students loans (I owe about 28,000). I would also use it to be more comfortable with day to day living. With my salary and living in the city it is hard for me to save money on my paychecks and be comfortable. I would be able to quit side gigs that I picked up due to financial stress.
