Teaching gives me a new opportunity to make an impact on children every single day.

I had impactful teachers myself who saw the bright spots in me when I was afraid to let them glow. I became a teacher to give children opportunities to become their best. I love those lightbulb moments when a student figures out a tough concept, that burst of laughter when students feel accepted for who they are, and the little moments. I love the little moments!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching moment has nothing to actually do with my teaching but the response from my students. I am navigating teaching while going through breast cancer treatment this year. After sharing my story, my students took it upon themselves to start wearing pink, showing their support through wristbands, and educating the rest of the school on what love is. As a teacher, the level of empathy my students showed me was unmatched.
What would you do with the $25,000?First, I’d treat my class to a YES day for their support of me as I faced my own challenges this year. Personally, I’d go on a vacation with my husband & 3 young children to thank them for their support. Lastly, I’d give the rest to cancer research to help find a cure.
