Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a kindergarten teacher because I’m passionate about shaping young minds and fostering a love for learning early on. The foundation of a child’s education is so important, and I wanted to be part of that. Seeing the spark of curiosity and helping kids navigate their first experiences with reading, writing, and socializing is incredibly fulfilling. Kindergarten is a time of wonder, and being able to support and guide them during such a transformative stage feels rewarding and meaningful

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was when a student who had been struggling with reading finally cracked the code. We’d been working on letter sounds and blending words for weeks, and one day, as we sat down together, she sounded out her first word all by herself: "cat." Her eyes lit up, and she looked at me in disbelief, as if she couldn’t believe she had done it. The pride on her face and her newfound confidence was unforgettable. I cherish all these amazing moments.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Since I work at a low income school, I’d use it to provide resources that directly support our students' needs. I’d invest in bilingual books, educational tools, and technology to enhance learning. I'd also fund enrichment programs like after-school tutoring, sports, or STEM activities to give students opportunities to explore their interests. Additionally, I’d allocate some funds for classroom supplies, creating a more engaging and comfortable learning environment for our students
