I became a teacher because I fell in love with the art of learning as a tutor in high school. Helping others understand challenging concepts sparked a passion in me that hasn’t faded. Teaching science, especially Chemistry, allows me to take complex ideas and make them attainable for every student. I love watching kids realize their potential, connect the dots, and feel empowered by what they’ve accomplished. It’s more than a job—it’s a chance to inspire curiosity and confidence every day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

This experience might not be memorable for the reasons you normally hear. I could regale you with all the fun activities and experiences I’ve put together for my students, but I have a different story. My most memorable teaching experience was when there was a false alarm of an active shooter in my first year of teaching. I have never been more scared in my life, yet more ready to go. I hate that we have to live in fear of gun violence in schools, but I would always choose to protect my students

What would you do with the $25,000?

$25,000 would truly change my life. We all know teachers have to get crafty to make ends meet! I work several side jobs and do extra duties already. I would have two main ideas on what to do with the money. The first would be to replace my car that regularly breaks down— that would provide a huge amount of relief as I commute the 25-30 minutes in the morning and after work. The second would be to pay off some debt in the form of loans to be able to save more for retirement.
