Tell us why you became a teacher

For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be teacher. My mom was a teacher and I wished nothing but to be like her and follow in her footsteps. She was the definition of someone who worked hard every day, was looked up to by many, and showed her passion in her work. That is who I wanted to be. I wanted to make a difference. I wanted to be just like my mom.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was during my internship in a 5th grade classroom. I was working on my edTPA, and I had a student in my class that spoke no English. For part of my edTPA we read the book “Dreamers” which has a lot of Spanish words in the book. The moment I started reading, that students face lit up from hearing her native language in the classroom for the first time.

What would you do with the $25,000?

This amount of money would change my life. I have two kiddos of my own under 3 and absolutely would use some of this towards them. I also have some debt and classroom needs that this money would go towards as well.
