I became a teacher because I believe in the power of education to transform lives. Growing up, I had mentors who encouraged me to dream big and helped me navigate challenges. I want to pay that forward by creating a space where students feel seen, valued, and empowered to discover their potential. Every day, I hope to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and show them that they are capable of achieving greatness, no matter the obstacles they may face.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments was when a student told me on the first day they didn’t like math. I promised, “I’ll change that.” Years later, when they graduated, they wrote me a letter thanking me, saying I had kept that promise. For the first time, they had experienced success in math. That letter reminded me of why I teach: to help students believe in themselves, overcome challenges, and find success where they once thought it was impossible.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won $25,000, I’d start by investing in my students—providing scholarships, classroom resources, and enrichment opportunities for those who need it most. I’d also donate to causes that support education and mental health, knowing how crucial both are for personal growth and success. The rest would go toward creating memorable experiences for my family, to show them how much they mean to me. It’s about spreading kindness and making a difference wherever I can.
